This is a simple tool that creates CSS sprite sheets. Sprite sheets are a technique that can speed up loading of websites that contain many small images. A prime example of this are rich text editing controls that have toolbars with small icons. It is much faster to load a single image that contains all the icons in one request than load ten icons, one per request. To display the icons correctly after putting them all together into a single image, we need to use the background-position CSS attribute to determine what part of the sprite sheet should be displayed.


This tool takes care of all that for you. It allocates a single image, arranges the smaller images to fit and creates a CSS/HTML template that shows you exactly how to reference the individual images.
