MacInTouch QuickASCII is a console-based movie player and picture viewer powered by Quicktime that attempts to reproduce movie images using patterns of ASCII characters, converted on the fly. You get a better framerate if you use GLterm instead of Terminal.app. It uses OpenGL, and is really fast (still think OpenGL-based terminals are silly?) If your terminal is white-on-black, use the -i flag to invert the luminence of the movie.
