consists of five text tools which allow you to search and modify any text file on a PC that uses Microsoft DOS 2.0 and above. PDGREPPE and FGREPPE let you search and replace any data in text files. PDGREPPE uses pattern definition GREP with pattern editing, while FGREPPE uses fast or fixed GREP with pattern editing. PDGREPPE searches by extended, regular expressions similar to EGREP on UNIX systems, and can reuse search patterns from user-created definition files. FGREPPE is more simple, and is similar to FGREP on UNIX systems. NLX (New Line Xlate) enables you to translate text files such as source code from Unix or Mac into PC-DOS New Lines. NLX uses carefully prepared state transition tables to ensure correct translation from either Mac or Unix format. HEAD lets you examine the front, middle, or tail of text files. Finally, STRINGS allows you to extract strings of text from non-text files, such as word processing documents. All five programs feature screen paging, recursive descent into the file system, multiple drive specifications, and more.
